Dear
David,
I hope everyone is having a successful 2004 so far. This brand new
digital world of ours has made it the most exciting time ever for many
of us in our profession. It seems, personally to me at least, that our
Workflow and Salesflow is changing on a weekly basis - but that is not
all bad, in fact, it's darn fun. I hope the the ideas and information
shared in these newsletters continue to spark your creativity,
enthusiasm, and profits!
Latest News and Updates!
We had a great Digital Master Class this past Spring. About 26 fellow
professionals from around the country came by for a week of eating,
sleeping, and breathing DIGITAL. A special treat for me was the reunion
with an acquaintance of mine from about 12 years ago. His name is Chaim
Meiersdorf from Israel. In nearly all of my platform programs since our
first meeting, I have shared Chaim's comments about why a jewish wedding
is such a grand affair. His answer about his people living from one
joyous occasion to the next crystallized for me why it was so important
to do your best job on a wedding - giving more that 100% - because it is
a joyous event which we have been honored to participate. The entire 5
days was an informative, delightful, fun, jam packed week for all.
Please check out all the digital images from the 1st day's shoot by
hitting the link below.
We have announced the Fall Master Class a few weeks ago. Mark your
calendars for Ocober 4 - 8, 2004 for another great week. Some really
good news for all past Master Class participants is the fact that you
will receive $100 off the $495 price - what a great way to check back in
with the lastest greatest techno info at the best price ever for a full
week that is a wonderful learning experience and a lot of fun. Call
Susan at 800.292.2994 to reserve your seat.
P. S. Don't forget - we have a Wine and Cheese Party Tuesday evening
and Dinner on me on Thursday. See you there. ---David

WPPI
2004- Revisited |
 |
A terrific convention as always - great programs, great trade
show, great energy! - The biggest surprise for me was the fact
that there were over 30 wedding album vendors at the show. Whew!
- it had to feel like a wedding show does to us wedding
photographers. In any event, the tremendous amount of album
options is wonderful for us photographers.
The other big surprise to me was the LARGE number of vendors
selling the PhotoShop page template ollections for the wedding
photographer. Then there was the other contingent selling the
album design software doing the same thing. The main problem for
most of these software solutions was the fact that they were
tied to album manufacturers and/or very expensive. But the
products were somewhat interesting and in some cases, very
interesting, but in ONE case - UNBELIEVABLE! The product was
LUMAPIX::FOTOFUSION - nothing comes near these guys! Check out
the next article.
And on a personal note - WPPI just invited me to be part of
their 2005 - 25th Anniversery Convention. Look for details in
upcoming issues of Rangefinder Magazine.

Rocket
Powered Album Design! |

Fotofusion by LumaPix - This is the most unbelievable software I
have ever seen. If you love "Digital", but HATE
compositing those album pages in PhotoShop then you must check
out this software. We use it exclusively in our studio for ALL
album design and portfolio layout. FotoFusion lets you create a
collage in 5 minutes as opposed to 25 minutes in PhotoShop.
There is simply no better software or faster way on the planet
that lets you create album page collages easily, effortlessly,
and instantly, post these collages to your web site, and email
them to your clients and vendor friends.
We had a problem in March as to how we were going to get all
of digitally composited albums out the door. We simply had too
many in the pipeline and too little time. I STOPPED the presses
here at the studio, took two days to train the staff on
FotoFusion's use, and we were completely caught up in 6 weeks.
Now we can design a complete album in about 5 hours total. The
results are outstanding and the resulting JPEGS are beautiful.
We've been working with FotoFusion now for 5 months and it's
feature set continues to amaze us as we find even more features
and shortcuts. Here at the studio we have designed over 80
templates, textures, presets to make the program even faster.
Anyone interested in these items needs to check out our new
Digital Resource Kit at www.davidziser.com. |

Take a peek at a sampling of some of our FotoFusion pages. It
only took a few minutes for each one. At the Fall Master Class
October 4-8, 2004 I will be showing how to get the most out of
the program and showing many of its advanced features.

NAPP
- Round #2 |
 |
I had a wonderful opportunity to visit for the first time the
National Association of PhotoShop Professionals' awesome
convention in the Spring. Boy, you talk about eating, sleeping ,
breathing PhotoShop for 4 days - it was mind boggling. It was
definitely "fried brain city" for those four days, but
WHEW! what a blast if you like PhotoShop.
I went with my buddy, Kent Smith, from Columbus OH. - Kent,
with his wife Sarah, run about the best and most successful
Senior/Family portrait studios in the country. We are both kind
of techie geeks and love the PhotoShop stuff. He covered one
half of the programs, I covered the other half. We compared
notes at the end of the day, caught our breath and did the same
thing for next three days.
The cool thing about the show is that even if you can't make
all the programs you want to attend, they give you a 700+ page
book of all the programming - WOW, what a great reference book!
This show happens on the west coast in early Spring and in
Florida in early Fall. Check out their website for more details
on the September Show. |
