Dear
David,
We had great reponse to our first newsletter. Most of
the reader interest centered around the technical
"Histogram" article and the cool "MemoriesTo
TV" software. We will try to continue to give you
links to interesting, profit-building items like this in
the future.
We are always on the lookout for good ideas from you,
ideas that you would like to share with our readers.
Just e-mail them to us and we will try to include it in
an upcoming issue.

The
Latest in Photography |
 |
I really like researching and following all the
trends in Digital Photography. One of the best
sites on the Internet to stay abreast of all the
information is Dpreview.com. PMA just wrapped
last week and there were a lot of new
announcements from many of the camera
manufacturers - several introducing 8 meg
cameras. Whew! They say the 8 meg point is where
film vs. digital differences finally disappear.
Read their PMA report - you will love the info.
It's a terrific article give it a read.

Affordable
Web Hosting |
 |
There sure are a lot of solutions out there for
web hosting of your images, aren't there. The
problem is that they are all pretty expensive. I
show my clients about 600-800 images on line.
Many of these sevices want to charge me
$.10/image or more. That translates into about
$60-$70/wedding. With the average internet sale
hitting about $150 - most of those solutions are
not cost effective for me.
That's where eStudioresources.com comes in. I
pay about $55/month to upload any number of jobs
to their site. That fact alone cuts my hosting
costs tremendously! John Wright, the creater of
the site, is always working on ways to make it
better too. His new "Favorites"
category makes it easy for my clients to make
their selection. We simply log on, enter their
email ID click on their "Favorites",
and print them off in the studio or review the
images on-line with them.
It's really cool how this feature works and
you get the hosting services at a great price.
You can see how it all works by going to
www.ziser.com. Find your way to "Client
Viewing" and check out Carla and Greg's
Wedding. It's not password protected - so enjoy
surfing the images and eStudioresources.com.
How did I find out about John's site - from a
student at one of my Studio Workshops about 2
years ago. One of the many benefits of my
workshop and our profession is the fact that we
have the opportunity to exchange great ideas and
information when we come together.

Cool
New Software Again |
 |
This software was the big hit last issue. A
bunch of you checked it out. As I said last
issue, never have I seen a program that creates
such a mesmerizing DVD product for our clients.
We sell the DVD for $325 nearly 100% of the
time. The additional copies sell for
substantially less, of course. I told you I had
a client buy 7 copies of her wedding. It wasn't
1 week later that another client bought 4 copies
of her wedding too!
If you do purchase the software, be sure to
get the version with the MPEG2 plugin bundle.
Otherwise you may have a problem. I learned the
hard way. Also, I had the best luck downloading
and using the the NERO drivers and using them
when I burn my DVD's. Just download the DEMO
version to get the drivers. Check out the FAQ's
on MemoriesOnTV's web site for the NERO link.
One last setup recomendation - when you are
finally ready to burn, go to the Advanced
settings under the "Burn" part of the
program. Under DVD Audio, I checked the second
choice - "Use Mpeg1 Layer2
encoding...". I got much better sound that
way. This is a great product. Give it a try!

Off
to WPPI and NAPP |
 |
WPPI is happening this week. It is without a
doubt, the best convention for the
Wedding/Portrait photographer anywhere - over
6000 people show up for the most infomation
packed 4 days possible. The trade show is also
awesome.
Another show almost completely unknown to
many of us Portrait/Wedding types is the NAPP
Show - that's the National Association of
PhotoShop Professionals convention happening
next week in San Francisco. NAPP is a worldwide
organization of over 30,000 strong nearly
doubling membership every year - UNBELIEVABLE!!!
They expect about about 6000 at this convention.
I am planning to be one of them.
I'll report on both shows and all the cool
new goodies when I return.
